Having already renovated and converted the loft space of the host dwelling William McCall were subsequently commissioned for the landscaping and garage, phases three and four of the overall master plan for the site.

Our brief was to split the site, creating two separate entrances and garden areas and include a double mews garage. The garage was to have a habitable room within the roof space. The design of the garage had to feel consistent with the host dwelling, as if it had been constructed within the same period.

In approaching the design we chose to position the garage at a much lower level than the garden. This meant removing a large quantity of spoil from the site, but significantly reduced the impact on the neighbouring dwellings. The landscape was designed to wrap around the garage, for a courtyard feel that helps harmonise the apparent age of the two dwellings. We think the finished result looks fantastic, and more than fulfills the brief.
